Paul D. Cumming, PhD
During the course of his career Dr. Cumming has amassed an impressive number of publications in journals such as Science, Transfusion and The New England Journal of Medicine. This experience with peer-reviewed literature has become an integral part of Talisman's approach to scientific research, heavily influencing past and current Talisman data collection efforts. It is certain that without Dr. Cumming's extensive input Talisman research would not be in the advanced state that it is today. Realizing in 1982 the potential for modernization in the blood banking industry, Dr. Cumming founded Talisman Limited, a Virginia sub-chapter S corporation dedicated to research and development. In 1989 Dr. Cumming left the American Red Cross so as to devote his full attention to Talisman Limited, successfully expanding operations and leading to the founding of Talisman's sister company, Talisman Medical Systems, Ltd., or Talmed, in 1993 as a software products firm. Since then Dr. Cumming has pushed Talisman and Talmed forward to prominence as a recipient of prestigious Small Business Innovation Research grants from the National Institutes of Health, and as the manufacturer of perhaps the most advanced production line medical interviewing software systems. |

Paul
D. Cumming, PhD serves as the President and Principal Investigator
for Talisman Limited. The founder of the company, Dr. Cumming obtained
his MBA in Marketing and subsequently taught marketing, statistics
and quantitative methods of planning and control before continuing
on to earn his Ph.D. in Management Systems and Science from the
State University of New York at Buffalo in 1976. Dr. Cumming spent
six years building and serving as Director of Quantitative Analysis
for the health & environment division of Science Applications
International Corporation. During his tenure at SAIC, Dr. Cumming
achieved one of the company's highest proposal success rates and
founded a division which led in profitability and growth. Following
this challenging work, in 1982 he accepted employment with the American
National Red Cross as the Director of Market Research and Support
and became a key official in the fight against AIDS .
